Atasa Solar is a project created by Tereneh Idia and Olorgesailie Maasai Women Artisans, who have been collaborating for ten years on fashion and design projects. Five years ago they began developing solar powered lighting for their village. They came to Pittsburgh to engage Pittsburgh’s African-American community in their design process and to develop public art and wearable projects.


Current Projects include:

  • Fashion Show – Idia Dega + OMWA – Museum Lab – October 27 @ 3pm
  • COMING SOON – Public Art/Solar installation at Page Street Garden – 1323 Page St, Pittsburgh, PA 15233
  • Public Art/Solar installation at Freeman Family Farm – 1426 Juniata St, Pittsburgh, PA 15233
  • Workshops and exhibition at Museum Lab (September 14 – October 26)
  • Workshops at Contemporary Craft – Beading Basics with Olorgesailie Maasai Women Artisans (September 10 – October 29)

Past Projects include:

  • Lecture and exhibition at the University of Pittsburgh (September 26 – 28)
  • Workshops at Freeman Family Farm (July 27 – September 7)
